Durable donations
Our integrated community-based approach aims to achieve durable and sustainable solutions through lasting donations. Any contribution is highly welcome. Durable donations provide a stable financial foundation, allowing the NGO to plan and execute both short and long-term projects. Your engagement in supporting a child’s education, a water project for a community, and improvements in housing or food, where necessary, is the assistance Kenyans need to improve their basic living conditions.
Making lasting help without breaking your budget
The amounts may seem high for some individual budgets. While a one-off donation is very welcome, we encourage a commitment to a regular donation. It can be monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual. An important factor for the durability and sustainability of our projects.
Here are some ideas to make a lasting contribution:
Individuals can contribute, and families, including siblings and parents, are encouraged to join forces for a collective monthly donation. Additionally, consider pooling resources with friends, sports companions, and colleagues at work to make a combined monthly contribution. E.g., why not ask, voluntarily, for €0,50 or €1, each time biking with your recreational team, at members of a fitness club, playing football or volleyball team, … This will add up every month to an amount hardly needed in Kenya.
By doing so, you significantly contribute to providing enduring assistance to the Kenyan people. Your collaborative efforts can make a substantial and lasting impact.
School fees
School fees vary across primary, secondary schools and universities. The government covers tuition fees in public primary schools, while in secondary schools and universities, they provide partial coverage, excluding private institutions. Additionally, also for primary schools, students face extra costs, including expenses for uniforms, shoes, books, school supplies, transportation, and meals. Hiring extra teachers (not enough teachers covered by the Government), building and construction projects like libraries, and extracurricular activities. Some schools also impose boarding fees for students participating in residential programs. We added a small part at the fee to improve the houses of our students if necessary. To ensure them an optimal situation to study at home.
A Donation Receipt/Charitable Contribution Receipt will be issued to the donor in January of each year.

Water drilling and piping / taps projects / gutters and water tanks / rainwater catchers
One of our main goals is to provide water to each household in a community. The cost of water drilling varies from one project to another. In Bonde, de community we currently work, we have done 5 of the 8 hydro-geological studies. At 4 of them, we can drill for water. At one location, we have to bring down the water from a water dam in the mountains above the location. (No price known yet.)
The price for drilling for water 130 meters deep at one location, installing the pump on solar energy, checking the water quality, and building a water tower of 50 m3 and 10 meters high will cost €26.500,00.
Cheaper, helpful water projects are :
- Collecting rainwater is a better alternative than water from the contaminated river. This is until they get drinking water with a tap at their houses, or nearby at a water tower. Meanwhile, they learn to use rainwater for cleaning, washing clothes, the toilet, and agriculture, and will refrain from using the limited drinking water for these purposes later.
- Catching water under clean conditions from their roof in a water tank with a tap provides people with cleaner water. Also, it will be less walking and carrying water to their homes.
- Catching the water from the roof of an average house in a water tank costs €150.
- Rainwater catchers are interesting for agriculture to use the water for irrigation systems to provide water to the plants in dry periods. They can also be used in remote areas to provide water.
- Building a rainwater catcher with a tank of 10,000 L on a tower of wood of 3 m cost about €1,000
Urgent needs
When you donate a customized amount once for “Urgent needs” or, hopefully, you make it a standing order at your bank to DSIBK, with a frequency at your choice, we will use the money for very different needs. All donations are welcome and hardly needed.
These donations we will use for the most urgent needs.
As it can be:
- To complete the funds for school fees. We want to avoid stopping the support we provide to a pupil or student, which could lead to them canceling their studies. Hopefully, next term we will have a new donor or donors to pay for the school fees.
- We prioritize students’ housing repairs, for which we are paying school fees. To ensure their homes are dry and well-lit, allowing them to study at home. Sometimes, the little money we include in the school fee is not sufficient. Also, if problems with food security, we will help them find a solution for it.
- If enough money and encounter a dire housing problem in Bonde we will help them, too of course.
- To support a small business with a small loan or gift, which helps them to grow and be able to be independent of support for their family in the near future.
- The car of the NGO needs fuel, service, insurance, …
- Kenyans working for us temporarily or permanently must get their salary.
- To complete the money for a water project.
- To buy the first materials for the women attending handicraft classes. In time, they will save enough money in their bank account to buy materials themselves. Learning that investments are needed to make money.
- While Bonde is our main project, depending on our budget, we will help people in Baringo too.
